Not believing everything we see on screen has become a vital survival skill. Read from our participants learning to defend themselves in today’s digital world.
The Erasmus+ project “Break the Fake” was an unforgettable experience focused on education, critical thinking, and meaningful human connection. The project took place in Poland and brought together youths from six countries: Slovakia, Poland, Spain, Lithuania, Greece, and Romania. Its main goal was to help participants better understand the difference between reality and artificial intelligence, misinformation, and fake content, while also strengthening teamwork and relationships.
Throughout the project, we took part in a wide variety of interactive activities designed to improve our ability to recognize AI-generated content and distinguish it from real information. These activities encouraged us to think critically, ask questions, and not blindly trust everything we see online.
An important part of the project consisted of group discussions, debates, and lectures. We talked about current and sometimes problematic topics related to media, technology, and society. Everyone had the opportunity to express their opinions, exchange perspectives, and learn from others.
These sessions were not only educational but also fun, creative, and inspiring, making learning enjoyable and effective. Cultural exchange played a major role as well. Each evening, participants prepared a cultural evening representing their country. Through food, traditions, music, and presentations, we learned how different and interesting our cultures are. These evenings helped us understand each others better and created many unforgettable moments.
The project also included a trip to Morskie Oko, one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Poland. The hike was a great opportunity to relax, enjoy nature, and strengthen friendships outside the formal activities. By the end of the project, we had gained valuable knowledge about media literacy, artificial intelligence, and critical thinking. We made countless new friends from different countries and cultures. Break the Fake showed us how important it is to stay informed, open-minded, and connected in today’s digital world. It was an experience that taught us a lot. Not only about the topic itself, but also about each other.
