Read from six Slovaks joining peers from Italy, Greece and Poland in the “Florence of the South”:
In the picturesque town of Lecce, we explored human rights through creative workshops and international teamwork. Our days were packed with informal education—from designing posters of an “ideal world” to mastering the art of constructive debate. We tackled complex issues like sexuality, economics, and politics, using role-play to build empathy for those facing injustice. We also compared how human rights are applied in our respective countries, identifying both progress and challenges.
Beyond the workshops, we fell in love with Lecce’s stunning Baroque architecture. A major highlight was the culture nights, where we shared traditions and treats. While we tasted delicacies from across Europe, our Slovak snacks—especially Kofola and Horalky—were an absolute hit!
“Rights in Action” was more than just a training; it was about building lifelong friendships and gaining the tools to stay active in our communities. We left Italy inspired to never stay silent in the face of injustice. 🌍
